Dear Parents,
Thank you to everyone who attended the most recent Parent Club Meeting. One of the topics discussed was the desire to move towards a more structured format for the Parent Club, with elected leadership roles and terms of service for these leadership roles. After the next Parent Club Meeting on October 9th, we will hold elections for the following Parent Club positions.
- Chairperson – sets and distributes the meeting agenda one week before the meeting; runs the meetings; makes sure all committees have a responsible chairperson; follows up with committees
- Vice Chairperson – assists the Chairperson in preparing the agendas; is ready to step in for the Chairperson as needed; chairs the New Family Welcome Committee***
- Secretary – takes minutes for each meeting; distributes notes after each meeting to all school parents; handles any needed correspondence for the Parent Club
The term of office for each of these positions will be two years. An individual parent may only serve in a leadership position two times. If it is the same position, there must be a year break between terms of office. This is to encourage new families to actively participate. As in the past, all Parent Club initiatives must be approved by the Principal and the Pastor.
Any parent who would like to be on the ballot for Chair, Vice Chair, or Secretary is invited to prepare a one to two minute speech to be presented – in person – at the October meeting which will be held Wednesday, October 9th. On October 10th, these speeches will be posted on our website, where they will remain available until Monday, October 14th, at which time electronic ballots will be sent out to parents via email.
***Welcoming New Families to St. Patricia School should be one of the top priorities of the Parent Club. This will be an ongoing committee which will provide outreach to new families upon registration, before the beginning of school, and throughout the year.
