2023 Spring Play News
January 5, 2023
We are excited to announce that St. Patricia’s Spring Musical will be Annie. Performance dates are March 30th and 31st and April 1st and 2nd.
Auditions for the play will be held on Tuesday, January 17th, from 3:00 until 6:00 in the school. Please pick up at the Main School Office doors. Tryouts are for speaking/singing roles ONLY. Due to the number of students who tryout, this process takes a long time. Some students will be done much earlier than 6 pm. If possible, please plan so that they can call you for early pickup if necessary. And, obviously, some students will be sitting around waiting to audition for a long time. Please be patient and use your time wisely and quietly.
Visit MTI’s website at https://www.mtishows.com/annie-jr to get more info – including complete Character breakdowns. You can also find the full songs and scenes from other productions on YouTube.
In the event that callbacks are needed, parents will be contacted via email and/or phone Tuesday evening by 9pm and the full list will be posted by 8 am Wednesday in the lobby of the school. Callbacks – if necessary – will be held the next day, Wednesday, January 18th. The final cast list will be posted by 9 PM Wednesday on the school website and by 8 am Thursday in the school lobby. Drama Club website address is: https://stpatriciaschool.org/student-life/arts-enrichment/drama-club/
The first rehearsal will then be held on that afternoon, Thursday, January 19th from 3pm until 5pm in the School, with pick up being at the Main School Office doors. All actors and actresses, including those who didn’t need to tryout, should attend this rehearsal. Scripts will be distributed, and we will attempt our first read through.
Tryout Form:
Each student participating – whether auditioning or not – needs to fill out a tryout form. Either download it below, fill it out and send to the office or complete and send it electronically to noni22@comcast.net. The forms for speaking/singing performers may be turned in to the office prior to tryouts or be given to one of the directors at tryouts. The forms for background/no dialogue roles should be sent by Tuesday, January 17th as these students do not have to attend tryouts or call backs. It’s important that we have a form for everyone as we use the forms to create the cast lists. Please also indicate sizes so that we can get started on costumes and a valid email address as most communication will be done through email.
In addition to the performers, we need great stage, costume, sound, and lighting crews. As you will see by the schedule, crew involvement doesn’t even start until March 27th but once it starts you will be busy. If you don’t like to sing, dance or act, the crew is a great way to be a part of the show.
Practices/Performances:
A very preliminary schedule of practices will be listed on the website. Note: this schedule is based on having two casts. In the event we have only one cast, it will be modified. Typically, Cast Sweet! practices on Tuesdays and performs on Friday/Sunday and Cast Awesome practices on Thursdays and performs on Thursday/Saturday. The Wednesday practices are for small groups and dancing. We don’t anticipate the schedule changing drastically, but we may have to add practices as the performance nears. It is very crucial that you make all the rehearsals and performances that you are scheduled for and do not leave early. Check your schedule now to see if you have any conflicts and indicate them on the form. We are aware that there are meetings that many Junior Honor, Student Council, and Grammar Gurus members must attend. Those meetings take precedence over play practice, and we always work around them.
Let’s bring out that sunshine … Maybe … Tomorrow!
