Principal’s Message 4-28-22 Read for Important End of Year Updates

April 28, 2022

Dear St. Patricia Parents and Family Members,

This week, our hearts are beating strong for St. Patricia School! The Student Council has designated this week as SPS Spirit Week. We are having so much fun! Yesterday students (and teachers) were dressed in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. Check out below for some pictures of the 3 winners from each decade! Friday is SPS blue and white spirit day. Go Bobcats!

We are more than halfway through the last trimester of our 21-22 school year, (yes, can you believe it?), and as we end April and move into May I have lots of information and good news to share with you!

First, and most importantly, as we look to next week, the Archdiocesan Office of Catholic Schools has designated May 2nd-May 6th as Teacher Appreciation Week! Though I have been here just a short time, I can tell you that the St. Patricia teachers and staff are among the most dedicated, caring, and talented teachers that I have ever had the pleasure of working with!

Your SPS teachers and staff LIVE the mission and ministry of Catholic education with their students every day! The school community is truly blessed to have such faithful and committed teachers. The family spirit here is richly authentic. Our students, your children, are truly blessed!

Can you ask your child/children over the weekend to take some time to make a thank you card?
Or write a letter of thanks to his/her teacher(s)? I know it would truly be appreciated!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: May 27th, Friday, is an authorized Mental Health Day and there will be no classes until we resume on May 31st. Happy long Memorial Day Weekend in advance!

Regarding Drop Off…just a gentle reminder to pull all the way up in the line when you can. Stopping at midpoint slows down the flow of the cars and causes longer delays. We are mindful that many parents are on their way to work! THANK YOU!

As we close this school year on June 7th, please make sure to have all your school fees, i.e., tuition, extended care, etc., paid in full. Your child will not receive his/her final report card or receive any transcripts, per Archdiocesan policy, unless all outstanding balances are paid in full.

Just a reminder, too, that next Monday the 7th and 8th grades are going on their annual Trout Field Trip and on Wednesday the 7th and 8th-grade students will again be leaving for their trip to Springfield. Next week begins the busy month of May with the aforementioned field trips AND Teacher Appreciation Week.

Have you gone online and ordered your spring flowers for planting? Mrs. Bartley-Bogard is asking all parents with Green Thumbs to help beautify our campus with beautiful spring flowers. We need plants that will tolerate full sun exposure. Would you consider sending a real/live flower donation to the school office by May 6th? On May 7th, next Saturday, at 9 am, the SP Garden Club will be planting flowers. If you are in need of volunteer hours or just want to help, PLEASE come out and help us plant! You can sign up on SIGN UP Genius. We look forward to seeing you there! Please consider helping us AND helping yourself get your volunteer hours.
Thanks so much for wanting to make St. Patricia look pretty for our spring events! Mrs. Bartley-Bogard needs your help!

There are also a couple of other opportunities to volunteer and satisfy service hours:

We are planning a school field trip to the Brookfield Zoo on June 6th. We will need parent volunteers to help us on that day. You must be Virtus trained in order to participate. We will be sending to you next week a specific letter of information about this day including cost, lunch info, permission form, etc. Stay “tuned” …

Our 8th-grade families have received their invitations (sent home to you by way of your student) to the special Awards Night and Dinner here at SPS in the Parish Center on May 19th at 6:30 pm. Students will arrive with their families and families will proceed to their tables for dinner by 6:30 pm. Please note: Students will process in (no cap and gown for this event) and will line up in the parish foyer (lobby) no later than 6:15 pm. Parents, please be sure to RSVP to Mrs. Glogowski with your count in the Main Office ASAP.
We also are in need of 7th-grade parents to help us with dinner that evening. You can sign up on Sign up Genius! We need your help. It’s tradition that our 7th-grade parents help us with this special evening. Thank you!

I want to remind our 8th-grade families that Mr. Fisher sent you an email letter in late January about the date and time for our Graduation Mass and Ceremony, fees, etc…
Graduation Day is May 26th. Students will finish the day at 11 am and the Mass and ceremony will begin at 6:30 pm. Students should arrive to school and proceed to Mr. Fisher’s classroom no later than 5:45 pm. Students should be wearing their cap and gown and be dressed appropriately for this special occasion. Parents, please be seated in the Church before 6:30 pm. There are no covid seating restrictions.

SPS will once again have our May Crowning on May 12th at 6:30 pm in the Church. THE SPS Religious Education students and SPS students participate in this event together. You are all invited!! Our 8th grade class of 2022 students will be leading us in praying the Holy Rosary during the service, so please bring your Rosary with you. (If you need a rosary, blessed rosaries will be available.)
The First Communicants will be in a special procession for the May Crowning and will need to be dressed in their First Communion attire. A blessed scapular will be presented to them during the service, and they will sit together in a reserved section of the Church. Please join us for this beautiful celebration as we honor our blessed Mother. And a very happy and blessed Mother’s Day to all our moms!

Have you ordered your tickets for the special SPS Wine Mixer fundraising event? It’s going to be such a fun evening with special spirit tastings, raffles, games, split the pot, and great live music from our very own Mr. Freddy Villegas and his band Sweet Escape. Doors open at 6:30 and all proceeds benefit our wonderful school. Hope you have marked your calendars! MAY 14th, 6:30 pm! You can purchase tickets in school, online, or at the parish rectory.

A special nod to Parent Club rep Mrs. Annette Wagner and President Mrs. Danielle Drzayich as we lay the groundwork for a special School Field Day event for our students in late May. We are waiting for a couple details to fall into place before we confirm the final date. You will be receiving a special letter providing you with specific information once all details have been finalized. Please remember that this is another opportunity for our parents to volunteer on that day to satisfy your service hours. The event will also require Virtus trained parents.

Finally, special congratulations to our Arbor Day coloring contest winners:
Victoria Hajnos (K), Andrzej Budz (1st) and Nelly Kuzinski (2nd). You make our school proud!

May the peace and light of Jesus be with our 2nd grade students who are receiving their First Holy Communion this weekend! Congratulations!!

Also making us proud are all the students who chose to participate with the Religious Ed students in making the Stations of the Cross come alive on Good Friday. The students performed the Living Stations of the Cross beautifully! Thank you! Special thanks to Mrs. Christine Swiderski and Mrs. Tina Glogowski.

SPS families, your participation in Dining for Dollars at Buona Beef brought in $79.50. Thank you! Every dollar helps our school! Our next takeout Tuesday is THE PATIO on May 3rd. Enjoy dinner out and give back to SPS!

The next month is filled with fun and very special events that help us grow together more closely as a community. Now is the time to step up …for your child, your school and community, and satisfy those volunteer hours too. Be a part of this wonderful SPS family!

God’s blessings,

Mary Iannucilli
Interim Principal
St. Patricia School
